From the Principal´s Desk
Dear families,

It is with great joy that we begin a new academic year! With the first days behind us and children already adapted to their classrooms, classmates and teachers, we have already started Module 1. After a well-deserved summer vacation, our children are keen on learning new concepts, of working on new projects and overall excited about the entire learning experience.
This academic year we introduce Kinderpedia, a complex communication app that will allow us to share more of our day-to-day activities and keep you informed in real time about the progress of your children. As we are still adapting the app to our own special needs, with the help of Kinderpedia´s tech team, we hope you are seeing the benefits of some basic functions we are already using such as check-in and check-out and daily updates on the program and the progress.
Extracurricular activities will begin on Monday, 18 th of September. As students are still adapting to the school program, we will keep enrollments open during the month of September. Please make sure you reserve your place as soon as possible if you are considering adding non-formal activities to your child´s education. The list of options is vast and we adapt the schedule to each individual need. From ballet to padel, rock climbing and karate, chess, robotics, capoeira, German or French, rhythmic gymnastics, mental arithmetic, theater, painting, piano/guitar/canto, soccer and squash, our extracurricular activities begin at 14:00 hours and end at 18:00 hours from Mondays to Thursdays.
Please know we are here to solve any doubts and answer any questions. I personally want to welcome you all to SEK Bucharest International School and l look forward sharing amazing and unforgettable moments together for the months to come.

PhD Principal

New school year, new beginnings, new adventures
On the exciting first day of school opening, our campus was transformed into a magical wonderland as we welcomed our special guests, Minnie and Mickey Mouse. The atmosphere was brimming with anticipation and joy as students and their families gathered to kick off the new school year. Minnie and Mickey greeted everyone with warm smiles and hugs, instantly spreading cheer and led the way for the youngests. As the school doors swung open, children's faces lit up with delight as they embarked on a day filled with enchanting activities and adventures. The first day of school with Minnie and Mickey created lasting memories and set the tone for an incredible year of learning and laughter ahead, reminding us all that education can be a magical journey.

Extracurricular activities: joy, fun and new experiences.
Extracurricular activities are a vibrant and essential part of the educational experience. These activities extend beyond the traditional classroom setting, offering students opportunities to explore their passions, develop new skills, and build meaningful connections with peers. Whether it's joining a sports team, participating in a chess club, or just relaxing through dance after a full day of school, extracurricular activities empower students to discover their interests and talents while fostering personal growth, teamwork, and a well-rounded education. These activities not only enrich a student's life but also contribute to a vibrant and diverse school community.

First week of school report
The first week of school typically involves a range of activities designed to help students settle into their new academic environment and establish a positive learning experience. We applied the following tips and tricks:
1. Orientation and Welcome: Students are introduced to the school's facilities, staff, and resources. They attend orientation sessions and receive a warm welcome from teachers and administrators.
2. Icebreakers and Getting to Know You: Teachers and students often share information about themselves to foster connections and build rapport and play Icebreaker games and activities to help students get to know their classmates and create a sense of community within the classroom.
3. Review of Rules and Expectations: Teachers discuss classroom rules, expectations, and procedures to establish a structured learning environment.
4. Course Introductions: Teachers outline the curriculum for each subject, providing an overview of what students will learn throughout the school year.
5. Setting Goals: Students are encouraged to set personal and academic goals for the upcoming year to motivate them and track their progress.
6. Classroom Activities: Depending on grade level and subject, students are engaged in introductory lessons or activities related to the first topics they will study.
7. Demo sessions of Extracurricular Activities: Teachers promote extracurricular activities through demo sessions and encourage students to explore their interests beyond the classroom.
Throughout the first week of school, the emphasis is often on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering relationships, and setting the tone for a successful academic year.

White Week: more than a school program in the snow
White Week is one of the International Programs for students from schools that are part of the SEK International Institution. For more than two decades, this sports program has been organized every year by the SEK Chile International School. In this edition, students from schools in Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Paraguay have participated. In addition, this program is part of the annual planning of the Physical Education Department of our school, since it allows students to practice a sport with extraordinary educational characteristics sharing with mates from SEK schools, benefiting from moments of coexistence and collaboration in a different environment to the usual. From the point of view of health benefits, skiing, and snowboarding, due to the fact that it is practiced in the high mountains, allows you to breathe pure air without pollution, helping the blood to oxygenate quickly. In addition, these sports strengthen the muscles and help improve psychomotor skills. For example, the position and control that is required to maintain, to execute the movement of skiing and snowboarding works as a training to coordinate body and mind. The result in the long run will be to gain greater agility and resistance when training.Participants also have the opportunity to see many places of interest in the city of Santiago de Chile. The complementary activities that are organized allow students from other countries to share with students from the three schools located in Chile: SEK Chile, SEK Austral, and SEK Pacífico. In this way, this program is a genuine opportunity for cultural exchange that contributes to the comprehensive development of the students, since the students also share with the families that host them during the days in their transit, to and from, the city of Santiago to the ski center located about 500 kilometers south of the Chilean capital city. This activity is part of the educational project of the SEK International Institution that seeks, among other things, to prepare its students to function on a global level.
